Sonixinema release FREE Whispering Woodwinds for Kontakt Player

The free Origins series of instruments, presented by Sonixinema, has unveiled the 2nd Kontakt Player library: Whispering Woodwinds.

Sonixinema Whispering Woodwinds is a textural soundset orchestrated from a 12-piece chamber sized wind ensemble.

While the developer’s web page does not state which instruments were used in the recording sessions, the official demo video provided on YouTube confirms the presence of bass clarinet and bassoon on the low end of the tonal range and piccolo on the higher register. Although not mentioned, it is safe to assume that they also used concert flutes and oboes.

Similar to the previous edition in the series – Origins Delicate Strings – the Whispering Woodwinds VST also features sustained swells that are in the styles of ambient and cinematic music.

Whispering Woodwinds provides mod-wheel dynamics as well as 4 mixable microphone positions (Close, Mid, Far & Ambiance) that the user is able to control simultaneously via a dynamic spatial-based audio proximity feature. It is also possible to handle each mic output independently.

Aside from the the dynamic/expression parameters, this Kontakt freebie also includes ADSR parameters as well as a bunch of EQ modules, frequency filters, some handy sound design effects like reverb and delay, a dedicated sound degradation tool for lofi effect enthusiasts and a rhythmic gate sequencer.

Origins Whispering Woodwinds by Sonixinema is available for the free Native Instruments Kontakt Player 8 (and up). The sample player by NI is compatible with 64-bit Windows PC and Mac (macOS) machines. Supported VST plugin formats: VST3, AU & AAX (also Stand-alone).
