Kontakt: Ink Vocal by Ink Audio is free on Audio Plugin Deals featuring true legato samples

Audio Plugin Deals is currently giving away Ink Vocal by Ink Audio for free until June 19, 2026. The library weighs in at around 5GB (installed) and runs in Kontakt 5 or higher (full version). It features true legato recordings, making it suitable for cinematic scoring, ambient production and other styles that benefit from expressive vocal transitions.

Ink Vocal behaves differently depending on the playback mode. In Monophonic mode, legato transitions are active, triggering full legato‑plus‑sustain samples when moving from one note to another. In Polyphonic mode, however, legato is disabled, leaving you with basic sustained tones and no round robin variations – a curious design choice, considering the material for variation already exists within the captured transitions.

While the library isn’t exactly cutting‑edge – some might even call it dated – it’s hard to complain at a zero‑dollar price point. I personally wouldn’t spend $50 on it, but as a free vocal library, it’s absolutely worth grabbing. With the right processing, especially a lush reverb like Soundtoys SpaceBlender, it can sound surprisingly convincing.

The samples are recorded dry, which I appreciate, as dry recordings offer far more flexibility in mixing and sound design.

Ink Vocal includes three vowel articulations (Mmh, Oh, Ooh) spanning a two‑and‑a‑half‑octave range, sourced from four singers – two male and two female.

You also get a set of single‑gesture effects: a low‑pass filter, a compressor, and basic delay and reverb modules geared toward ambient, cinematic and atmospheric genres. Additional controls include gain, pan and the ability to solo, mute or combine the four vocal layers individually. (Though I still wonder why there’s no ADSR section.)

To claim the time-limited free offer from APD, you’ll need to sign up an account and complete the checkout process, after which you’ll receive a serial number via email that must be added as a product inside Pulse Downloader (a popular, reliable library manager).

Ink Vocal by Ink Audio was made for Native Instruments Kontakt 5 and up (retail versions) and works across all major plugin formats, including VST, VST3, AU and AAX, as well as in Kontakt’s standalone application. This makes it compatible with virtually any modern DAW on both Windows PC and macOS machines.
