Just recently, SoundProps came out with a new line of free instruments, which they developed for the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt. The release features a collection of 6 sample libraries – all part of their big “Jam Pack” bundle.
Developer: SoundProps
Supports (Kontakt): Windows, macOS (Standalone, VST3, 64bit)
While the majority of the instruments offered in this collection are guitars (there’s a classic, acoustic, electric & bass) – they also provide a couple of percussion sound sets – with a full drum kit and one, very interesting ethnic hand drum.
I took the last few days to test them out, and although being impressed with the most, the one that really caught my eye (or ear) is the wonderful, deeply sampled Egyptian darbuka.
This very well made Middle Eastern-drum sound library offers a surprisingly rich and dynamic instrument, that – considering its free “price tag” – comes with an almost unbelievable amount of velocity layers (10) and round robins (12).
The different articulations are mapped out in a properly designed GUI, which also presents some essential audio effects. It has a reverb, a 3-band equalizer and a few knobs that control the dynamics and overall pitch of the instrument.
The library is available for the full, retail version of Kontakt (6.6.1 and up).
