Last week, UK-based plugin developer Wave Alchemy have launched a new and free reverb VST effect – introducing Magic7, a Bricasti M7 emulation.
Bricasti M7 – or the Bricasti Design Model 7 – is a high end reverb hardware unit. The original stereo reverb processor that Wave Alchemy’s plugin is based on is a mixing/production gear, used primarily in professional studios.
Without comparison, Magic7 by Wave Alchemy already seems like one of the best digital reverbs released this year. Beyond acting as a very decent quality reverb, it also contains a variety of useful features with some advanced sound shaping capabilities.
The more basic FX parameters include modulation – labeled Flux – and Ensemble (which is chorus). The developer also incorporated a bunch of dynamics processors – like EQ and compression modules. You are provided with a Low parameter (bass frequency band) & Air (mid/high band) as well as with a Duck (“ducking”) parameter – a volume gate. It also has a Smooth parameter (transient shaper) and pre-delay which is more standard.
In addition to all of the included features, Magic7 is also loaded with usable presets. The selection has differing reverberation modes and spaces – from small acoustic room simulations and chambers to big halls, cathedrals, plates and other types of ambiances.
Wave Alchemy Magic7 is a Windows and Mac compatible VST FX which is available in the following plugin forms: VST3, AU & AAX.
