Stone Voices release free Ambient Reverb 7

Ambient Reverb 7 is a free algorithmic reverb plugin developed by Stone Voices. Focusing on ambient music, it offers extended controls and quality stereo processing capabilities.

Earlier versions of Ambient Reverb focused on simplicity, offering smooth diffusion (echo buildup) and long decay times with more basic controls. Although they lacked advanced features like modulation and stereo imaging, they allowed ambient genre creators to craft immersive spaces efficiently, laying the groundwork for the more versatile version 7.

One of the focal features of the new Ambient Reverb 7 is its extremely long decay range – from 0.1 milliseconds to 100 seconds. This allows users to create long, evolving reverb tails that work especially well for ambient pads, drones, soundscapes and slow-moving textures. The plugin is especially optimized for musical contexts that rely on spaciousness and subtle motion, like cinematic atmospheres.

The plugin includes a useful Freeze function, which allows users to capture and hold the reverb tail indefinitely. This is good for creating sustained textures or ambient layers from a single input. It functions similarly to a granular or hold-style effect and can be used for creative sound design.

Ambient Reverb 7 offers several detailed controls:

  • 2-band parametric EQ for shaping the high and low frequency response of the reverb.
  • Mid/Side processing to control how the reverb spreads across the stereo field.
  • Modulation (LFO) parameter.
  • Also included are damping, diffusion (reflections/echoes) and stereo width controls, alongside other known parameters.
