Recently, UK-based independent plugin developer Sound Dust has launched his Bad Pianos line of instruments. He has also released Drift Free for the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt (6.7.1) – which is a derivative of the commercial VST Bad Piano Toolkit – offering a taste of some of its sounds and assets. The complete, fully featured edition is priced at $10.
The Drift Free – Bad Pianos sample library for Kontakt is not your typical piano. In fact, it’s quite far from that – and as you may have guessed from the unique name given to it, it is in no way a flawless piano.
Drift Free is here to serve you with a very experimental, avant-garde piano instrument, suitable for more niche, industrial works or pretty much any kind of music that is “unconventional” in terms of character. You can use it for your eerie and spooky themed projects, for indie video game music and also as a background soundtrack when scoring and composing for film.
A 700MB library, the Drift Free piano features a variety of sound morphing parameters like a dynamic one-knob ADSR as well as a similar functioning EQ module.
Additionally available are special sound design audio effects like WoW & flutter as well as modulation (which can be also BPM synced to your DAW) in addition to an Impulse Response reverb unit. Other parameters include a sample offset feature, legato & portamento modules in addition to multiple unison oscillators (up to 8 voices).
The Sound Dust Drift Free – Bad Pianos library is available for Kontakt Full 6 and up. Supported plugin formats are standalone (Windows PC & Mac 64-bit), VST (VST3), AU and AAX.
